Press Release: MBH Secures Favorable International Sports Arbitration Award for Nogoom Football Club

Setting the first precedent in the Egyptian sports sector, Matouk Bassiouny & Hennawy (“MBH”) secured a favorable international sports arbitration award from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (“CAS”) in Lausanne, Switzerland amounting to EGP 20 million for Nogoom Football Club (“NFC”) and successfully defended it against claims and counterclaims exceeding half a million US Dollars. The arbitration was a consolidation between two cases filed by NFC against ISMAILI Sports Club and the Egyptian Football Association in a contractual sell-on fees dispute.

The Tribunal awarded NFC a sum in excess of USD 1.25 million, in addition to all costs covering the arbitration costs and fees. MBH has also successfully defended NFC from all claims and counterclaims submitted against it, which exceeded half a million, US Dollars.

The arbitration team who handled this case consists of Dr. Amr A. Abbas, F. John Matouk, Mohamed Samir Rady, Hany Omran, and Malak Elmenshawy.

On this occasion, we would like to congratulate and thank our colleagues at NFC Mr. Mohamed El-Tawila, Mr. Mohab El-Tawila, and Mr. Shady El-Tawila.
