Mohamed Omar is a Partner with Matouk Bassiouny & Hennawy’s Dispute Resolution Practice Group and has been with the firm since 2012. Mohamed is admitted before the Egyptian Bar Association since 2010 and has been practicing law for more than 11 years.

Mohamed deals with high caliber litigation and arbitration matters for both international and local clients. He has represented large corporations on high stake complex commercial litigations. His experience includes, inter alia, commercial agency disputes, complex commercial litigation, cross-border matters, enforcement of court judgments and arbitral awards, general corporate disputes, amicable dispute resolution, general commercial advice, as well as matters concerning general contract and liability law.

  • Representation of a major automotive manufacturer in successfully blocking claims before the local courts of US$225 million complex litigation involving procedural and substantive arguments relating to commercial agency/distribution relationship in Egypt. Successfully securing a jurisdiction judgment in this dispute from Cairo Economic Court, which constitutes a legal precedent in agency disputes.
  • Representation of a major British international shoe manufacturer and retailer in successfully blocking claims before the local courts exceeding US$45 million in complex litigation involving procedural and substantive arguments relating to commercial agency/distribution relationships in Egypt.
  • Representation of a German global leader in the production of rigid plastic film solutions for primary packaging of products, by blocking claims in connection with an agency/distribution dispute, subject matter of which is US$2.9 million.
  • Representation of a leader American entertainment company in a complex debt recovery claim leading to a successful multi-million US Dollar recover involving, inter alia, a ground breaking trademark enforcement action against the debtor company. This case is watershed case for intellectual property rights in Egypt as it marks the first successful enforcement against a trademark and tradename in the Egyptian market.
