Mohamed is a Partner at Matouk Bassiouny & Hennawy and a member of the Dispute Resolution team. With over fifteen years of experience in international arbitration and cross-border commercial disputes. He advises on complex, high-value arbitrations across sectors such as construction, oil and gas, telecommunications, real estate, and financial services. He is particularly experienced in joint venture, shareholder, infrastructure, and energy-related disputes involving regional and international parties.

Mohamed has acted in proceedings under major arbitral rules and has significant experience in both institutional and ad hoc arbitrations. He is also active in the arbitration community as a speaker and instructor and instructor at multiple prestigious institutions and universities.

Mohamed has experience in complex arbitrations in many industries, with an emphasis on telecommunication, construction, oil & gas, shipping & logistics, investment, sports, hospitality, and cross-border business transactions disputes under Egyptian, Kuwaiti, Qatari and Saudi Laws. He has handled cases under the auspices of various rules including ICSID, ICC, CRCICA, DIS, ADCCAC, DIFC, CAS, FIFA’s DRC & DC, and FOSFA. As well as advising clients on arbitration-related court litigations including enforcement and nullification procedures of domestic and international arbitral awards.

    • Representation of a leading Egyptian offshore marine services provider in a DIFC-LCIA arbitration against a listed Chinese contractor in connection with a subcontract for subsea construction works on a major energy project in Saudi Arabia. The dispute, governed by Saudi law, involves claims and counterclaims originally totaling USD 73 million.
    • Representation of a group of high-profile Arab investors and their investment vehicle in connection with a complex, multi-party arbitration concerning their investments in an Egyptian agribusiness group. The dispute arose out of a shareholders’ agreement and involved claims and counterclaims exceeding EGP 250 million. The tribunal dismissed all claims and counterclaims in a final award.
    • Representation of Egyptian Resorts Company (ERC) – a leading real estate developer – in connection with an ad hoc arbitration administered by CRCICA concerning a dispute over a Red Sea touristic development. The dispute involves a claim of approx. EGP 1.8 billion alleging breach of the master plan, and a counterclaim of approx. EGP 40 million filed by ERC for outstanding dues and unauthorized alterations to the development contract.
    • Representation of a regional telecom operator in connection with a USD 1.1 billion arbitration involving a breach of the terms of an interconnection agreement against the world’s largest mobile operator.
    • Representation of a telecom monopoly fixed–line operator in connection with a dispute involving landing rights against the operator of a round-the-globe submarine fiber-optic communication cable.
    • Representation of an Emirati prestigious private equity in connection with a USD 6 million corporate and structuring dispute in the steel industry against Egypt’s largest steel manufacturer.
    • Representation of Dutch pipeline manufacturers in connection with a mediation and finalized settlement agreements for holding regarding a dispute with the Egyptian Housing Ministry.
    • Representation of a Kuwaiti investor in connection with a USD 20 billion arbitration concerning the ending of a partnership and transfer of shares in multiple major Kuwaiti and international incorporations.
    • Representation of an Egyptian landline telecommunication company in connection with an EGP 2 billion arbitration brought by a subcontractor regarding a wireless telecommunication project under Egyptian law.
