We are pleased to share a remarkable achievement by Matouk Bassiouny & Hennawy’s arbitration team!
Our team recently secured a favorable settlement for our client in connection with eight high-stakes commodity arbitration disputes under the auspices of the Federation of Oils, Seeds and Fats Associations (“FOSFA”).
The disputes involved a range of complex contractual issues—including quality and conformity of supplied commodities, compliance with specifications, fulfillment of deliverables, and delays in shipment and delivery. Our client, a notable player in the global trading industry, faced off against one of the world’s key suppliers, as well as a top-ranked international law firm specializing in commodity disputes.
The eight cases spanned multiple jurisdictions—Malaysia, Russia, the UAE, and Egypt—and centered around significant commodity values: valued at over USD 65 million.
Through a collaborative and strategy-driven approach, MBH successfully resolved all eight disputes while prioritizing our client’s commercial interests, safeguarding their legal rights, and ensuring uninterrupted business operations.
Dr. Amr A. Abbas, Partner and Head of Arbitration, commented: “This achievement highlights our commitment to delivering tailored strategies that protect our clients’ interests while addressing the broader commercial imperatives of complex international disputes. Successfully navigating these cross-border arbitrations demonstrates our strength in providing innovative legal solutions in the commodities sector.”
Congratulations to the exceptional team whose dedication and expertise made this success possible: Mohamed Sallam (Partner); Hany Omran (Senior Associate); and Ingy Ihab (Associate)
We remain steadfast in our dedication to delivering strategic solutions for our clients.
