Matouk Bassiouny & Hennawy advises MNT-Halan on a strategic investment by Al Ahly Capital valuing the company at USD 1.4 billion

We are pleased to announce that Matouk Bassiouny & Hennawy (“MBH”) acted as legal counsel to MNT-Halan in connection with the successful first closing of an investment round led by Al Ahly Capital, the investment arm of the National Bank of Egypt (“NBE”), following the receipt of all required regulatory approvals.

The transaction represents a significant milestone for MNT-Halan, Egypt and MENA’s first fintech unicorn, and further reinforces its position as one of the region’s leading fintech and non-bank financial services platforms. Following the transaction, MNT-Halan’s valuation has reached USD 1.4 billion, reflecting strong investor confidence in the company’s growth strategy, market leadership, and regional expansion ambitions.

The investment highlights the growing collaboration between traditional financial institutions and fintech-driven financial ecosystems, while supporting the continued development of financial inclusion and digital financial services across Egypt and the wider region. MNT-Halan intends to utilize the proceeds of the transaction to further expand its operations in Egypt and support its ongoing regional growth plans.

MBH advised MNT-Halan throughout the transaction, providing comprehensive legal support in relation to the structuring, negotiation, and execution of the transaction documentation.

The MBH team advising on the transaction was led by Tamer El Hennawy (Partner & Co-Head of Capital Markets and Corporate and M&A) and Samih M. Talaat (Partner) and included Ali Khairy (Associate).

MBH is proud to have supported MNT-Halan on this strategic transaction, which represents an important development in Egypt’s fintech ecosystem and reflects the increasing confidence of institutional investors in innovative, technology-driven financial services platforms.
