Eslam is a counsel with Matouk Bassiouny & Hennawy’s dispute resolution practice group. He has been practicing dispute resolution for more than eight years in both Litigation and Arbitration. He joined the firm in 2016, prior to that he worked at Khalifa & Associates Law Firm. He has been admitted to the Egyptian Bar Association since 2013 and is a holder of an LL.M in International Legal Studies from the American University Washington College of Law since 2014.

Eslam also handles international and domestic arbitration cases and represents companies in several high-level complexes in arbitration disputes under most major institutional rules including ICC, ICSID, CRCICA and UNCITRAL concerning disputed amounts over USD 2 billion. Eslam advised major companies in several commercial and arbitration disputes. Eslam has also acted as a secretary to an arbitrator member of a CRCICA tribunal.

Practice Focus
Eslam's practice focuses on commercial, civil, employment, and anti-dumping disputes, with a particular emphasis on technology transfer, oil & gas, telecommunication, hospitality, and construction. He also represents clients in Egyptian court. He works in all aspects of a commercial agency/distribution relationship, such as creating agreements, advising on termination, addressing disputes, and reaching settlements. Eslam also handles both plaintiff and defendant cases.

  • Representing and advising major companies in commercial, civil and employment disputes along with representing them before the Egyptian Courts, the Public Prosecution and the Governmental Authorities.
  • Representing major companies in Anti-Dumping and Safeguard Investigations before the Investigation Authority, Ministry of Trade & Industry.
  • Handling litigation cases or proceedings pertaining to arbitration cases such as nullity actions brought up before the Egyptian Courts against arbitration awards and also all the enforcement proceedings for the same.
  • Successfully representing and advising a major European Oil & Gas Corporation in several high-level complex ICC, CRCICA and ICSID arbitrations in excess of USD 2 billion.
  • Successfully representing and advising a leading Telecommunication Company in an interconnection dispute in a CRCICA arbitration in excess amount of EGP 700,000,000.
  • Representing and advising a Spanish Company in a hotel management and hospitality dispute in a CRCICA arbitration in excess amount of USD 2,500,000.
  • Successfully representing and advising an Indian Company in a logistic Trucking and Customs Clearance Services in a CRCICA arbitration in excess amount of EGP 13,000,000.
  • Eslam worked with major and multinational clients such as Etisalat Misr, Emirates International Investment Company, CIB, Union Fenosa Gas, Melia Hotels International, ENAP Sipetrol, Bel Egypt Expansion and Cargill.
